Nijo Harutaka (二条治孝)
Harutaka NIJO (October 30, 1754 - November 5, 1826) was Kugyo (high court noble) in the late Edo period. His father was Munemoto NIJO. He had children such as Narimichi NIJO, Suketsugu KUJO, Hirosue SAIONJI, Narinobu NIJO, Hisatada KUJO, Yasuko (保子) (lawful wife of Nariatsu TOKUGAWA), Takako (隆子) (Jorenin, Harukuni TOKUGAWA's wife), Horinin (Narikiyo KURODA's wife), Chima (千万) (second wife of Naotomo NABESHIMA), and Yoshiko (最子) (second wife of Yoritsugu MATSUDAIRA). His alias was Hojukongoin.
Brief Personal History
He was born to Munemoto NIJO in Kyoto in 1754. He was appointed to Jusanmi (Junior Third Rank) on August 4, 1770 (old calendar). He was promoted to Juichii (Junior First Rank) on August 4, 1796 (old calendar). He held various posts such as Udaijin (Minister of the Right) (1791 - 1796) and Sadaijin (Minister of the Left) (1796 - 1814). He died in 1826.
