Makino Sadanaga (牧野貞長)
Sadanaga MAKINO (December 26, 1733 - October 30, 1796) was a daimyo (Japanese feudal lord) and politician during the mid Edo period. He was a jisha-bugyo (magistrate of temples and shrines), the Osaka jodai (the keeper of Osaka-jo Castle), the Kyoto shoshidai (The Kyoto deputy), and a roju (member of the shogun's council of elders). He was the lord of the Kasama Domain of Hitachi Province. He was the fifth lord of the Makino family, Narisada line.
He was the third son of Sadamichi MAKINO. His lawful wife was the daughter of Norisuke Ogyu-MATSUDAIRA. His children were Sadaharu MAKINO (the eldest son), Tadayoshi NISHIO (the fourth son), Mochinori KONDO (the fifth son), a daughter (Hiromichi INABA'S lawful wife), another daughter (Tadatoshi HONDA's lawful wife and later Tsunetomo AKIMOTO's second wife), as well as another daughter (Akihiro MANABE's lawful wife). His official ranks included Jushiinoge (Junior Fourth Rank, Lower Grade), Bingo no kami (provincial governor of Bingo), and jiju (a chamberlain).
Brief personal history
He was born on December 26, 1733. He became a jisha-bugyo on September 25, 1769. He became the Osaka jodai on October 15, 1777. He became the Kyoto shoshidai on June 2, 1781. He became a roju on July 2, 1784. He resigned the position of roju on March 17, 1790. He died on October 30, 1796 (died at the age of 64). His successor was his eldest son Sadaharu.
