Yabui Seichi (藪井星池)
Seichi YABUI (1748-October 14, 1816) was a Japanese tenkokuka (artist of seal engraving) in the mid-Edo period.
His name was Senshu, his azana (adult male's nickname) was Shicho and Seichi was his pseudonym. He changed his name in Chinese style to Seichi YABU. He was from Fushimi.
Brief biography
He served the Nijo-Suminokura family. He enjoyed kyoka (comic waka) and haikai (humorous renga) while engraving seals. His Inpu included "Seichi Inpu" and "Hakusetsukado Inpu." He lived in Kawaramachi Street Higashi, Kyoto but 1804 to 1817, lived in Naniwa.
Died at the age of 69.
