Toneri no Nukamushi (舎人糠虫)
TONERI no Nukamushi (year of birth unknown – March 682) was from the Asuka period. In the old Japanese syllabary characters, his name had been written the same, and the pronunciation is considered to have been the same. His kabane (hereditary title) was Miyatsuko, later he was given the higher kabane Muraji. At the Jinshin War of 672, he supported Oama no Miko (Prince Oama who became Emperor Tenmu following the victory in the war). His last rank was Zo-Daikinjo (Daikinjo, given posthumously).
In "Nihonshoki" (Chronicles of Japan), there is no description of Nukamushi's achievement in the Jinshin War, however, according to the following article, he was given a rank after the war, therefore, he is considered to have supported Oama no Miko in the war.
On February 14, 682, TONERI no Miyatsuko Nukamushi was given the kabane of Muraji. On February 24, 682, TONERI no Muraji Nukamushi was raised from Daisenjo to Shokinge at the rank. In March of the same year, he died at the rank of Shokinge. After the death, he was given the rank of Daikinjo for an achievement in the Jinshin War.
