Nijojo-mae Station (二条城前駅)
Nijojo-mae station, located in Nijojo-cho, Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City, is a stop on the Tozai Line, which is operated by Kyoto Municipal Subway. The station number is T14.
Station layout
It is located underground at Horikawa-dori Nishi-iru of Oshikoji-dori Street, at the south-east corner of Nijo-jo Castle. It's an underground station with an island platform serving two tracks. Three entrance/exits are provided.
Cases for the display of cultural properties are found in the premises of the station, and excavation results corresponding to the construction of the subway Tozai Line and old artifacts excavated (such as old items excavated from a former portion of Shinsen-en Temple) are displayed there, making the area look like a miniature museum.

History
October 12, 1997: This station was established when the Tozai Line started operating between Daigo and Nijo. Initially, it was planned to name the station 'Horikawa' after the name of the avenue that the station crosses, but the name was changed to 'Nijojo-mae' in consideration of the tourists that would use the station.
April 1, 2007: PiTaPa became usable.
