Ono no Oyu (小野老)
ONO no Oyu (date of birth unknown - July 17, 737) was a poet and lower to middle-ranked government official of the Nara period. His son was ONO no Iwane.
He was first appointed Jugoinoge (Junior Fifth Rank, Lower Grade) Ushoben (Minor Controller of the Right), and later he was assigned as Jushiinoge (Junior Fourth Rank, Lower Grade) and Dazai no shoni (Junior Assistant Governor-General of Dazai-fu offices) and sent to Dazai-fu (local government office in Kyushu region). He died in Dazai-fu.

His famous tanka (poem) appears in the Manyoshu (Collection of Ten Thousand Leaves) as follows. The imperial city of Nara glows now at the height of beauty, like brilliant flowers in bloom.
